Dave Liebman and Quest concert in Cologne!

Went to see Dave Liebman and Quest (a.k.a) Richie Beirach-piano, Ron McClure-bass, Billy Hart-drums. They played at a club called the Stadtgarten/Konzertsaal which is next to the Koln West Train stop (in case you wanted to go). Its the first time that I had been there but they have a very active schedule. The club is fairly large by jazz club standards and has good sound. Anyway, on to the show. The first set was all originals by everyone in the group except Billy Hart. The tunes were very intense and the group interaction was fantastic. The second set was a tribute to Miles set where they played tunes Miles either wrote or was fond of playing (All Blues, Green Dolphin, Blue in Green, Stella) It was such a treat to hear these tunes in such a fresh light. They were all familiar but with great spins on all of them. Everyone in the band just tore it up and if you get the chance go check them out.

A brief history of me: I went to the University of North Florida, and graduated in 1998 with a bachelors degree in jazz studies with a performance emphasis. I graduated from Florida International University with a masters degree, also in jazz studies, in 2008.

I toured North America, Europe and Japan for more than 6 years with the original rock band Further Seems Forever. I wrote and recorded on the full length albums, How to Start a Fire, The Final Curtain (Live Album and DVD) and Hide Nothing which have sold respectively more than 150,000 copies worldwide. Wrote, arranged and recorded music for the song "Sleigh Bells and Wine" featured on the compilation album, A Santa Cause. Arranged and recorded on Pop Goes Punk compilation album. Arranged and recorded on upcoming Tribute to Bjork album. Recorded music for Chaste White and Blush Red poems and stories by David Novak.

I have performed more than 1000 live shows with original rock group Further Seems Forever in more than 20 countries over 6 years. Toured with groups such as Dashboard Confessional, Yellowcard, New Found Glory, The Ataris, Thurdsay, Brand New, Anberlin, Coheed and Cambria as well as hundreds of smaller groups. Have had three full length music videos played on MTV2, Fuse and many smaller video channels. Most recent video "Light Up Ahead" was nominated for a Dove award for best music video for 2004.

As a sideman, performed with Chris Carrabba of Dashboard Confessional and Bill Warfield, renowned Manhattan big band leader. Also played with Alan Arper, Los Angeles arranger and conductor and Wayne Bergeron jazz trumpeter. Performed with recording artist Soleil Niklasson in Germany. Toured with actress and singer Florence Henderson. Toured with Ed Ames of the Ames Brothers.

Performed in small jazz combos, duets, solo, big bands and local club acts in Florida and Germany.
